Asked on Jun 23rd, 2015 on Child Support - New Jersey
More details to this question:
I became disabled in 2011 with COPD; I cannot work. SSI has denied me eligible due to the $900 monthly alimony that I receive. My ex-husband seeks to emancipate our daughter, age 20, and terminate Child Support because she graduated from dental school in March and just started working. Our daughter has cervical cancer and therefore we cannot rely on her income to help support us. I will be losing $119 weekly in child support if the court grants the emancipation. I cannot live on $900 monthly. My ex-husband is a plumber, plus owns a separate business as well, and has a two-income household since he's married. Does the law grant increases in alimony based on these serious circumstances?
