Can I leave state with my daughter?

More details to this question:
If my daughters father and I were never married, never been through the legal system for anything, and he isn't paying child support currently, am I able to move out of state with her without any legal repercussion from him if he were to persue so?

If there is no order regarding custody/visitation, then you can leave.  But, until you have been in the new state for 6 months, the father can still file an action in Iowa to establish custody and visitation (and child support).  Thus, if he chooses to file, you may need to return to Iowa for a hearing and/or trial.  You would not be in contempt if you leave prior to any order being entered.     DONNA R.
