I have been divorced as of 12/4/2012 and although my ex-husband has until June 2nd to have my name removed from the mortgage, he has other obligations which should have already been taken care of but have not. Now he has gotten nasty and childish, going through the lawyers for minor/stupid issues, purposely dragging things out and now trying to wiggle out of his remaining obligations. I followed through with my obligations and paid my legal fees but my hands are tied because I will continue to accumulate additional legal fees until he does what he is supposed to do. His total debt of $425,000+ which includes credit card debt that he confirmed with me verbally, on many occasions, that my name was removed, is on my credit report along with my own debt. I am unemployed and have not had any income since 12/4/2012 and considering that he dropped my daughter off to live with me without notifying me of his intensions and says he can no longer provide medical insurance for her and Iโm providing for three additional people and I couldnโt even get a loan to help me living costs because of his debt, irresponsibility and childish actions. I don't think my settlement was good anyway especially considering that I didnโt get any of the 401K Retirement plan which was over $300,000 but never increased since the day I left in 2006. I presently live in Delaware but was married in Pennsylvania. Can I or should I ask the judge to hold him in contempt of court and if so, can I do it myself and with very little money? I have been severely depressed since the end of 1998, 50% caused directly because of his actions and perpetual lies and am on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I need help. I need advice. Can you help me or point me to someone who can. Thank you.
You need a lawyer where the jurisdiction is, whatever county in pa that is. You can try contempt, but I would wait till June 2. Allegheny County has a pro se motions program which allows non-represented people to come into court and go before the judge for relief.
