QUESTION

Can I pass a background for a firearm?

Asked on Nov 03rd, 2018 on Domestic Violence - Colorado
More details to this question:
I have completed my deferred sentence and my case is deferred and dismissed. My case was a harassment charge with a Domestic violence enchancer but I have completed everything other than sealing my case. Too my knowledge I am not convicted but I worry because I don’t want to be arrested if I am trying to buy a hunting rifle. Thank you for your time. Also this is in the state of Colorado.

Once a case is dismissed after the end of a deferred sentence it is no longer a conviction for purposes of firearm ownership.  That is especially true if you "seal" the case, which you can find the forms for at your local court clerk's office or online on the state court website, pull down the 'self - help' menu.
