QUESTION

Can my ex re-file for divorce?

Asked on Jan 23rd, 2013 on Divorce - Pennsylvania
More details to this question:
I filed for divorce in 4/2012 in Pennsylvania through an office. I paid all the fees but my ex-wife didn’t get anything to sign but I got a judgement that we are divorced. She was ok with it as long I was giving her money every month or paying her rent and bills. Now I can’t afford to pay all that so she saying she’s going to re-file for divorce. We never got married in USA. We got married over in my country. Thank you.

If you were divorced, she cannot come after you now for support or property unless your failing to do so violates a marriage settlement contract that was part of the decree. For example, if you had a marriage settlement contract and in the contract, if you agreed to pay alimony for 10 years, and now you don't pay, she can come after you by enforcing the contract.
