QUESTION

Can our marriage be saved?

Asked on Mar 24th, 2018 on Divorce - Minnesota
More details to this question:
My husband and I currently live in Minnesota. I do believe this is consider a no-fault state. We are currently in a informal separation. My husband does not know if he wants a divorce. I know I do not want a divorce. I believe we can reconcile and work past our trust issues and communication problems with some help. Some help such as marriage counseling or communications course. I do not see any grounds as to why my husband would consider divorce. We are both upset and both hurting and I believe those are no reasons to file for a divorce. Yes we both hid some things from each other and lied. But as I had stated. I believe if we take the right steps our marriage can be reconciled. We do have 2 small children. That I know neither one of us want to dismantle our family due to things that I believe can be handled without jumping onto divorce right away. Is there any chance our marriage can be saved?

Hey Janie, I am so sorry about the marriage roller coaster you have been on. The honest and truthful answer is that your marriage is technically on a roller coaster ride whose engine is about to get burned. The only way to make sure the ride continues is to either terminate it, meaning get a divorce finalized and try to re-date again and see maybe the marriage spark will come back. Other than that, if your husband is not being involved with the kids or you on a timely bases, I hate to inform you that this marriage is less likely to be saved. The other thing is, with time and patience things might turn around. But because your husband is not with you, there is a slight chance he is with someone else and not thinking about you or fixing the marriage.
