My husband’s aunt is wanting to sign her rights away to her 12 year-old child and place him in mine and my husband’s custody. She isn’t able to raise him to the best ability and has a long history of drug abuse. Would we be able to get help financially if we decide to go through with this?

Get help financially from whom? The state might provide you certain benefits to care for the child. But if you also are unable to care-provider for the child, it would be best to have the child be cared for by a foster parent.
