concerning children of divorced parents. is there an age when children can decide which parent they choose to live with?

great granddaughters father has not paid child support on regular basis since divorce. even now while supposed to pay through court he is $1,100 behind. took mother to court to get shared custody. every other week instead of every other weekend. the girls do not want to go. they will be 13 and 14 in 4 and 5 months so was wondering if there was a mandatory age thank you
1 ANSWER
Children can choose where they will live when they turn 18 and become adults. Before then, a judge in a custody case can choose to hear from their regarding their preferences, but is not bound by their choices.
