Hi Im a mother of four kids and I'm not safe and I'm wondering can I move away to another state and the reason why I'm asking is my kids father has Friday and Saturday vistion rights so I need some help
If this is a Wisconsin decree, you are required to provide advance 60 days notice of your intention to remove the children from the state or move more than 150 miles within the state from the other parent. You are required to provide that notice in writing, detailing the reason for the move and where you are moving to, and providing the other parent with notice that they have 15 days to file an objection with the court to object. You are also required to provide a copy to the court. If you feel you are not safe because of threats they have made or something they have done to you, you should also consider filing a petition for a domestic abuse restraining order to keep him from having any contact with you. If you provide proper statutory notice, and they object, you cannot move until a court hearing is held and the judge determines whether the move should be allowed or not.
