I want to get a divorce I live in atlanta ga and my husband lives in Jacksonville fl. I've been told that I have to hire a lawyer in florida because that's where he lives.. why is that?

After you have lived in Georgia for six months, you can file for divorce here. The only issue that would be addressed by the Court however would be the marriage itself. Unless your husband were personally served here in Georgia, all other issues such as property or debt division, custody matters etc would not be adjudicated.
