I am a permanent resident, I filed for divorce in NY, defendant is supposed to be a resident however she went home without the greencard with our kids. she filed a counterclaim with a lawyer in NY. I am willing to settle but she is asking for money that is unreasonable. My lawyer is asking me to settle but the defendant is seeking money amount that is unreasonable

If you have a lawyer you should be guided by his/her advice. It's impossible for anyone to assess the case without understanding of the financial situation of the parties.
