Do I have to put the father's name on my child's birth certificate if I want to go after him for child support?

More details to this question:
I recently found out that I'm two months pregnant. I told my boyfriend that I was and he told me that he "didn't think that he could do another kid" so now we are no longer together. What I want to know is once I have my baby do I have to put his name on the birth certificate in order to receive child support and to gain full custody of my child?
No you do not have to put him as the father on the birth certificate, but if he is found to be the father in court it will have more binding effect than the birth certificate anyway.
