Do I need permission from the courts and my sons father to move out of state with my 13 year old?

More details to this question:
I am planning on moving out of state to Georgia next year. My husband has a job opportunity and I have family down there. I was never married to my sons father and we have a child support order in place through the courts. My son is 13 years old. I wanted to know if I need permission from the courts or his father to move and when I do move if his father has any rights to file for a custody hearing before we move?
Dear Anonymous,
You need permission of the Court to move out of state with your son. It is called a removal case and requires permission of the Court or Father. If Father's contests the removal, it will likely take at least a year for the court to hear and decide on the case.
