Married 5 months. Bought the house a year prior to marriage. On the deed, it states joint tenants. I paid a majority of the mortgage. We are getting a divorce and he states the equity is 20,000 and to split in half and he wants 10,000 plus 3,000 that his grandpa gave us for the house. I'm keeping the house and getting his name off.
I would personally calculate the TOTAL he spent on the house and than check with the real estate rate (% interest) give him that and tell him to walk down the block and don't come back.
