QUESTION

Does a Joint Petition for Divorce expire?

Asked on Aug 08th, 2013 on Family Law - Nevada
More details to this question:
My husband and I filed a Joint Petition 9 months ago, but did not take any other steps to complete it. We did not file COPE certificates or Affidavits of Resident Witnesses. The online system still says our case is open. Will we be penalized for letting it linger or can we just continue where we left off?

Probably not, but the court will eventually get around to dismissing it if it is not being pursued to completion.  See http://willicklawgroup.com/joint-petition-divorces/.
