Engagement ring

More details to this question:
I have numerous text from this year from my ex stating we are done and I need to move out We are on n off on this subject I've been asked why do I wear the ring no need to and then times why I am not wearing it Now I have an eviction notice to move out and he wants the ring back Aren't i entitle to keep it?

In California, the law is that if the person who got the ring breaks off the engagement, that person needs to return it.  If the person who gave the ring breaks it off, there is no obligation for the recipient of the ring to return it.
