Giving up paternal rights

More details to this question:
Ex son in law ordered to pay child support for his 1 and 2 year olds. Says he now wants to give up his paternal rights. Can he do this without my daughter's consent?

He can give up his rights, but a judge would have to sign off on it. Its not something he can just write on a piece of paper. However, I suspect he thinks that he can get out of child support by doing so. This is not the case. By giving up parental rights, he can not give up the obligation to support his child. Only if the child is adopted will his obligation to support he child end.
