QUESTION

How can I get more support from my husband?

Asked on Feb 02nd, 2014 on Divorce - California
More details to this question:
After 13 years of marriage and me being at home with 3 children and our family expenses exceeded husbands income, I can't get a lawyer who will commit to "do what is needed to get me much". Husband now makes almost twice the income he did at separation. He has physically mentally and lied about me. I am 51 now and declared severely depressed because of this situation. I tried to go back to work and I was completely overwhelmed with stress after 3 years of separation in the same house together. I am hopeless.

You need to file for divorce, now, not later and ask for what you want. By doing nothing, you are making it worse on yourself. And no lawyer will guarantee a result. All they can do is try.

You need to file for a modification of support. A support obligor's usual response to such a motion is to file their own motion to terminate support. Hire an attorney and seek funds under Family Code section 2030 for that. Use an attorney (our firm among others) who are familiar with 2030 fights.
