QUESTION

How do I go about getting a child support order reduced?

Asked on Feb 19th, 2015 on Child Custody - Michigan
More details to this question:
I have three children, three mothers. What information should I do and what can I do myself? The orders for the first two are reasonable but the third is ridiculous. Combined, I'm left with little to nothing. If I could get the 3rd order to reflect my current income situation it'd be a great help.

You can file a motion to modify child support in the Court which awarded the child support. You will want to have a very clear accounting done to show the court exactly how much you make and what your obligations are to the other children. There is no guarantee that the Court will reduce your obligation, but it may be worth a shot.

You can file a motion on your own, but clearly have not been successful. I would suggest you engage an attorney to review the situation and advise you if your premise, that the support obligation is too great, appears to be correct.
