QUESTION

How do I terminate the other parents rights?

Asked on Dec 11th, 2017 on Child Custody - Connecticut
More details to this question:
I have full custody of my daughter and my ex wife has visitation. She has seen, asked about or taken any interest in our daughter in almost a year. I would.like to terminate her rights and have my wife adopt my daughter. My daughter is 6 and doesn't even remember her birth mother, she just refers to her by her first name and calls her the baby sitter.

It is not that easy to terminate a parent right and have someone else do an adoption. This will require extensive litigation and most-likely when the biological mother finds out she will be furious and won't agree to the adoption. This might not happen and if she is nowhere to be found and or does not contest it, a lawyer might be able to help you. But the risk of an expensive litigation is very high and you should consider working with a competent custody and family law attorney.   Above answer and comments to questions are for general purposes only and does not constitute legal advice or establishes an attorney-client relationship without a signed retainer. Please reach out to an attorney you are comfortable with working and discussing your case in more details.
