My son's father has basically been absent since 2009. He has seen my son a few times under supervised visitation yet got that terminated for not showing up. Since he has been out of jail this year, he has yet to try and set up visitation. He paid child support for 2 months yet owes thousands. Basically, my husband has financially supported and physically been present since 2010. We just recently got married and my child is the one who asked if he could officially be his son. What do I have to prove to make this happen?
You are in good shape to get this without the father's consent. Tell all this to the attorney you hire for an adoption and there should be no real difficulties.
