The soonest a divorce can be final is after 90 days. However, for final orders to be entered, all matters have to be either settled or tried. If the former, then the settlement has to be filed with the final orders if not before.

When it will be final depends on what is being done. Cases don't just automatically move themselves along, and if no-one does anything then the case will ultimately get dismissed and you will have to start over again. You should consult with an attorney to help you if you don't know how to proceed.

Assuming this is a Wisconsin case, there is still some work after your file an Answer to the divorce petition. You are your spouse will want to agree on a Marital Settlement Agreement, for one thing. A divorce in this state can only be granted after at least 120 days have passed since service of the original papers. A good lawyer can help a lot.

That would depend upon the issues. After all issues have been resolved, an Agreement filed, the Court will probably calendar a final hearing for about 8 to 12 weeks out.

It won't be final, at least in Nebraska, until there is a Decree entered by the Court.
