We adopted our daughter out of foster care when she was 13. She is smart with many great qualities. She has gotten into trouble by meeting men for sex. One man is now serving 15 years for taking her out of our county and giving her drugs as well as sex with a minor. She has no criminal charges against her. She has been in a mental hospital for two weeks and has bi monthly counseling. All officers, judges and counselors think my husband and I do a great job with her. We are calm and she has many privileges (a horse, pets, great school, basketball, boyfriend, etc.). However, she is no longer allowed to have a cell phone or unsupervised computer access due to her continued addiction to sex with strangers. She has always had a steady school boyfriend over the years but still continues sex with strangers at the same time. She is now days away from being 16 and wants to emancipate herself so she can do what she wants or she wants to run away. Police have advised us to let her run and not look for her so she has time to miss us, see that it is hard, etc. We do our best to stop her. I know they are the same as with a birth child but we don't know that either. Also, can she hire an attorney and emancipate? We have continually told her we love her, we want her here, we pay for all her meds and counseling, etc. So, she will never be "kicked out".
