QUESTION

Is a verbal agreement binding in custody cases?

Asked on Nov 08th, 2015 on Child Custody - Michigan
More details to this question:
My wife and I also her father and two other people had a meeting at my wife's father's house to arranged parenting time for our 7 year old daughter. We agreed that I would get every other weekend and we would split holidays and this would go no for 6 months and then would be reevaluated. Now she doesn’t want to honor the agreement. What can I do about this?

Commonly verbal agreements are not kept, and they are difficult to enforce. I generally recommend at least a writing, signed by all parties. The only reasonably enforceable "agreements" are made, and entered as an order of the court.
