More details to this question:
I have a son that is 25. Years ago when we first got divorced I was paying then she returned my checks and gifts. when I called she told me "he has a dad now" and that my help was no longer needed. 10 years later she gets a divorce and I get hit with years of back child support. Is there a way out of this?

You could try to file a Request for Order to erase all back child support based on what you have stated and any proof you may have.  However, if your ex refutes your allegations, the court may not believe you. Any time there is a change to an existing court order, you must file a Request for Order to change it. You did not do this and relied on a verbal agreement.  This is never a good idea.
