I hired a lawyer from a firm in Rochester, NY in August 2013. I went in for a consultation for a divorce and adoption. At that time the lawyer said they could both be done at the same time. I paid a 3000$ retainer plus 500 for filing fees. A month later the lawyer called and informed me the divorce had to be done first. I told him to go ahead. I received an account statement for august and September and then they stopped. I called to ask where he was with the divorce and did not receive a call back. This went on for 3 months. I then got a call from the paralegal asking me to sign papers and I did. After a month I called inquiring about the status of the divorce. I received no call back after 2 and a half months and 4 phone calls from me. In May the paralegal called and told me my case had been put on hold because of tax season. I received a bill in June stating I now owed 700$. I asked for a detailed billing and I was refused. I have not been to court nor am I divorced
