QUESTION

Is there case law regarding sueing for alimony not initially established?

Asked on Aug 06th, 2015 on Family Law - Florida
More details to this question:
I obtained my degree as a result of being unemployed/on food stamps. Upon obtaining my degree I was employed in a position requiring said degree. I didn't initially ask for rehabilitative alimony; however, without the education I received I would likely still be without means of an income.

If you already have a final judgment granting divorce, you cannot go back and ask for alimony. Unless there are some facts missing, like the final judgment reserved alimony at one dollar to reconsider at later date when  the payor would have the ability to pay. Best of Luck, Helena Y.
