More details to this question:
Location: if I think my kids would be best off at a school- a public school in tenafly as opposed to Wyckoff and my soon to e ex lives in Wyckoff, how far am I able to move w the kids? Tenafly is still in nj and not crossing state lines. What are the laws on this.

The children can be registered in school where the parent who has residential custody lives.  If you are living in Tenafly, and have custody of the kids, you can register them in Tenafly schools.  Where you live in New Jersey is up to you, you will not be restricted from living anywhere within New Jersey.
