my sons mother wants me to sign over my rights as a father

More details to this question:
my sons grandmother hates me,we both have no contact orders against each other (my sons mom & her mom are best freinds and she will do whatever her mom says) so for the fact of the grandmother not liking me they want me to sign over my rights, I would like to know how that works and what it would entail if i decide to do so
You should consult with a RI attorney, but it seems like what they are asking for is for a voluntarily terminate your rights. This means you will never have a right to see that child, and you will never pay support. That, is a tough decision. Good luck.
