QUESTION

my uncle is withholding my inheritance

Asked on Aug 19th, 2013 on Family Law - California
More details to this question:
My parents left behind money for myself and 2 siblings when they died. My uncle and aunt were appointed our guardians. But my uncle won't give me my inheritance. I turned 18 in May of 2012 and he told me he didn't have the money. We made a deal for him to give me $1,500 every month. He did that 2 times then stopped. Then he started giving me only$500 and now he won't give me anything and I'd telling me I am being sued by my own lawyers. I only have 1 lawyer that was appointed to me by the state when my parents died. The rest I have not even meet. I did not hire them. So how can they be suing me for something I had no involvement in? My uncle said my inheritance will go to paying them off but he hired them not me. Can he do that? How do I get my money???

It sounds like you will need to speak with the lawyers involved.  You will need to know how much money your parents left behind for you & your siblings, what is currently in the bank account and if possible, the guardianship papers that were filed with the court. You may need to hire an attorney to represent your interests.  This is called a 'contested' matter in the area of estate planning.
