QUESTION

My wife and I are separated and we have been working cooperatively on decisions up until now. She has threatened to take me to court for child support for our four-year-old twin daughters. I am willing to support the girls, but I would like to keep the matter out of court. I really want to avoid a situation where they garnish my wages because my place of employment does not need to know how much child support I pay each month. Can't I just pay her directly whenever she needs something for the girls?

You can work out something privately with her if she is willing, but she has every right to take it to Domestic Relations for support.
