QUESTION

pension entitlement

Asked on May 09th, 2017 on Divorce - New Jersey
More details to this question:
Married in 1972, divorced in 1982/83. Did not file for pension entitlement then at the time of divorce. Found out about the new 5-years marriage rule instead of 10-years. Currently remarried for about 10 years. Am I entitled to file for pension entitlement?

I don't think you owuld be since you didn't meet the terms of the law that was in existence at the time of your divorce. I do not believe the law is retroactive.
