QUESTION

Physical custody and the U.S. Army

Asked on Feb 01st, 2016 on Child Custody - South Carolina
More details to this question:
I have a one year old son and was talking to a recruiter about joining the army. He informed me that to join the army me and his mother have to be married or i have to give her physical custody. We are together and do plan on getting married, but further years down the road. We agreed that giving up custody would be the best route for me. I need to know the quickest/easiest/cheapest way(s) to give her physical custody while i am in active-duty until we get married?

While this could be considered a simple agreement, the uncertainty of the future should be reason for pause.  An agreement for these reasons should be carefully drafted and entered considering a future that would not include pleasant relations between you and the mother.  Hope for the best, but plan for the worst.
