QUESTION

POWER ATTORNEY

Asked on Jun 04th, 2016 on Family Law - New Jersey
More details to this question:
THIS FAMILY, IS TAKING CARE OF MY AUNT, AND WHEN I ASKED THEM IF THEY HAVE POWER OF ATTORNEY, I GOT NO RESPONSE. THEY CONVINCED HER TO SELL HER HOME, ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO, AND I FEEL THEY ARE TAKING HER LIFE SAVINGS. SHE HAS NO CHILDREN, AND HER SISTER, IS IN A NURSING HOME. I AM THE ONLY ONE, THAT STILL TAKES INTEREST, TO GO AND SEE ABOUT HER. I FEEL BECAUSE I ASKED THEM ABOUT THE POWER OF ATTORNEY, THEY DON'T WANT ME AROUND ANYMORE. I NEED SOME LEGAL ADVICE.

If you are very concerned, and you kind of want to stay out of it, you cna the office of adult protective services.  Call the county board of social services, and ask for the adult protective service area.  Or you could try getting your aunt to an elder law attorney to discuss what is going on to be sure she is protected.
