More details to this question:
I reside in India. A proposal has been approached for my daughter who is also a divorcee. The groom is from Lanka who is a Canadian citizen, but lives & works in USA. His divorce is granted in 2008 but the alimony to his ex-wife is not paid & stands pending in the court. Is it advisable to go ahead with the marriage without any hassles ? Will the marriage be registered in India ?

I would have the groom agree to sign a premarital agreement before the wedding. This way any outstanding debt that he owes (alimony, child support, etc.) will be deemed his sole and separate property and responsibility. If your daughter marries this individual in India, their formalities will prevail but it will be recognized as a valid marriage in the United States.
