QUESTION

Should I go back to court for support?

Asked on Sep 30th, 2013 on Child Support - New York
More details to this question:
My daughter lives with her father now (March 2013). In 2008 she was on his insurance, he lost his job, I added her to mine. He never paid me the difference. We went to court in April and I don't think the judge understood. He said I had to put "out of pocket expenses" in writing. However, I think that's just for the copays. I feel I should be compensated for the many years I covered her insurance. Is it worth going back to court?

If your daughter is living with her father, then it might be that you owe him some basic child support. The cost could outweigh the amount he owes for the health insurance for the years she lived with you. Consider talking to a lawyer and providing the prior orders and any agreements you had for a better assessment of your case. Good luck.
