Shouldn't the attorney have to give me my money back if he did nothing?

More details to this question:
I divorced my husband and paid an attorney $2,000 to get him out of the house and put it on the market. He wasn't making the payments and not taking care of the house. There was equity in it. Seven months have gone by and now the mortgage company is foreclosing and my attorney did nothing. I am losing everything including my credit rating.
