The spousal support award is dependent on a variety of factors. Some of these factors are the differential in income, length of marriage, education, health and other factors. When you file for divorce, you may also file a Request for Order for temporary support while the divorce is in progress. For temporary support, only differential in income and need are factors. In the trial phase, a permanent order would be addressed. It is important to note that if your spouse contributed to a retirement fund during the marriage (from the date of marriage to the date of separation) you may be entitled to a portion of it.
