QUESTION

Tax question

Asked on Apr 17th, 2021 on Divorce - New York
More details to this question:
Daughter is 21 and only lives w me. In divorce settlement I would claim child for 2 years and father would claim one year before back to me. He already filed her and I believe being over 18 and she lives w me and he never sees him, I should be the one claiming her. I lose out on college tax credits and tax deduction when he doesnt help w college. Divorce settlement does not state when tax issues end. I believe its 18 and I claim her. Am I correct?

I think its 21.    This is not legal advice nor does it create an attorney client relationship. It is just informational. You should hire an attorney if you want to pursue a legal matter.
