QUESTION

Wanting to relocate. Final hearing still pending.

Asked on Sep 03rd, 2013 on Family Law - Texas
More details to this question:
I am wanting to relocate myself and my daughter within the next month to another state. However, my divorce is still pending the final hearing until January 2014. So, no court orders have been issued. If I relocate to different state what will happen to me and my case here in Texas? By relocating will the new state have jurisdiction over my case once residency is acquired?

Many counties have Standing Orders that prohibit you from relocating the children's residence during the divorce proceedings.  If you filed the case and no response has occurred you can dismiss the case and refile in another state after you meet the residence and other requirement of that state.  You need the advise of an attorney to review your situation in its entirety.
