The obligation to support the child begins at the birth of the child and continues until the child is 18 or becomes self-supporting (for example, moves on his own at 17). If the child is in school, support may go until 19.

Immediately. Now. If he fails to pay for as few as 30 days, even if there is no court order, he can land in jail.

Child support will commence when the child is born, if an application is made in the court at that time. The fact that your son is a student only effects the amount that will be paid. When you are dealing with children, competent legal representation should always be sought, as the subject matter of the litigation is so very important. One mistake here could cause the biggest adverse consequence of your life!

As soon as he emancipates he will have to pay child support - that means 18 or when he graduates from high school if he turns 18 before graduating.

The day the child is born he is legally obligated to support the child. Mother is obligated to care for the child. That is one of the main reasons we encourage young people not to parent children.

The legal obligation began the day the child was born. The teenage father's ability to pay is only relevant to the question of "how much".

The minor mother can initiate child support proceedings on her own or through the state. The legal proceedings may include and be against three parties: the father of the minor-mother, the mother of the minor-mother, and the father of the minor-mother's child. Because the parents of minor-mothers are legally responsible to support their daughters until emancipation, they must pay child support for their minor-mother daughters. Additionally, the parents of a minor teenage noncustodial parent (father) may face paternity action requests for child support from them, rather than the father of the newborn.

There is no age limit on child support in Washington. If your son fathered a child, then, child support is going to start as soon as the court orders it to start.

An obligation to support a child arises when the child is born. Regardless of your son's circumstances, he is obligated to support the child that he fathered. If he is able-bodied, he will be assessed child support at an amount usually of minimum wage, regardless of his present circumstances. His full-time student status does not exempt him from supporting his child. If he is disabled, there is a minimum child support figure of $100.00 per month per child that is assessed, depending on any other sources of income he may have. If there is no present court order of child support, he should pay what he can toward supporting his child. Failure to pay any support can result in the permanent loss of his parental rights if the mother seeks to have the child adopted by another, since he can lose his right to object to adoption. He can also be criminally prosecuted for criminal non-support of his child.

In my experience (which is limited on this particular issue), the child support obligation commences when the paying parent has turned 18 and has graduated high school. If the parent leaves high school before graduating, then the obligation would commence at age 18.
