QUESTION

What are my options?

Asked on Jan 31st, 2018 on Family Law - Florida
More details to this question:
10 years ago my ex wife went to prison. Through the years her contact with our children ha been less and less. She was recently released and is now calling to see the kids, now 18 and 15. They have stated they have no intention of seeing her. I don’t want to be the “jerk that is refusing her the right to see her kids”. Before prison she had 1 hour a week and after she got in she got 1 15 minute call a week and that stopped over a year ago.

I totally agree with you in not allowing her to see the kids. The 18-year-old is presumed to be able to make his/her own decision, the little one you still have control over. You should give her access and opportunity to make contacts with them. Whether they answer or not is up to them and her. We can certainly try to help you evaluate your options.
