QUESTION

What are step parents educational right

Asked on May 19th, 2017 on Family Law - New Jersey
More details to this question:
My ex wife and I have joint custody of our two children. Our agreement specifically states all educational decisions are to be made by her and me. It has come to light she has given the school permission for her new husband to speak with school administration without my consent. Is this a breach of our agreement?

Is there an agreement that restricts a step parent from having information regarding the children that is with their mother? While you have the same rights to access the children's records as the mother does, I don't necessarily think consent is needed for the step-parent to speak with school administrators while the children are living with the mother. Of course, should the mother and her husband divorce, then there would be no further grounds for the step-parent to be involved, since he would be an ex step-parent.
