QUESTION

what are the chances she'll get alimony?

Asked on Feb 10th, 2014 on Divorce - Massachusetts
More details to this question:
My friend was served with papers this weekend. His soon to be ex wife is asking for support. They were married 9 years, have no children and she has worked the entire marriage and is working now. She is 34 years old, in good health with no disabilities. I think its ridiculous for a person to expect support when they've worked the entire time. I'm looking for a professional opinion. What are the chances she could actually get support? Thank u!

Dear Anonymous,    Each situation is unique. Whether or not she gets alimony is dependent on the parties' income and the lifestyle of the parties during the marriage. If you or your friend have additional questions, do not hesitate to contact my office at 617-410-6467.    Best,
