I'm in final stages of an uncontested divorce, and my spouse asked that I sign an affidavit agreeing, among other things, to "remove all barriers to remarriage". I have no issues with other points, but I do not know what this point means, what am I signing up for, what are the pitfalls, if any?

There are no pitfalls. Some religions require consent of the former spouse if one is to remarry. All you're agreeing is to give that permission if required.
