QUESTION

What does the following mean in plain terms?

Asked on Feb 07th, 2014 on Child Custody - New York
More details to this question:
"Any visitation listed hereunder as "extended" visitation shall supersede any regular visitation stated above and shall not be a substitution for such visitation." If it means the party gets the extended visitation in addition to the regular visitation and is not a substitute for the regular visitation, what happens when extended visitation and regular visitation overlap? Does the noncustodial parent get only the extended, or do they get both? For example, summer visitation is listed as "extended" visitation and is alternating full weeks from Sunday to Sunday. Regular visitation is every other weekend from Friday night until Monday morning.

I read this as the extended visitation supersedes the regular visitation: any extended periods of visitation apply, and regular visitation schedule does not.    You might need to talk to a lawyer or go back to court to get things clarified, particularly if there is disagreement. Good luck!
