QUESTION

What is an SBI locker?

Asked on May 09th, 2013 on Family Law - Georgia
More details to this question:
I want to know about the locker in sbi. The locker is under my two grandmothers who expired in 2011. They did not transfer it to anyone, there no need at that time. But suddenly both expired in a short period and my father expired when long back ago and he was adopted by my grandmother from her sister. Now I want to know what can be done in this case to get the locker possession back. Either on my motherโ€™s name but as per law its comes under childrenโ€™s name. So please guide me through, I would thanks a lot.

An SBI locker appears to be a safe deposit box held in another country, such as India. A lawyer would first have to know where the SBI Locker was opened and then research the laws of that country.

I don't have a clue what you are talking about. Take your story to an attorney and go through the details. That will allow him or her to give you a fairly educated answer.

State Bank of India? This sounds like an estate question. Who is in "possession" of it now? Who was the last living person who had authority over it? Did that person have a will? You state "as per law it comes under children's name". So how do you know this? Specifically what provision of law are you referring to?

Your question is more suited for a probate attorney who deals with how property passes after death. Good luck!!
