What will happen to the custody over my nephew after the mother has been home since March 2013 but has not showed up?

I've had custody of my nephew since my sister has been incarcerated. This is in Illinois.

When you say you've "had custody" of your nephew, is this by court order, or are you saying you just have had possession of your nephew?? Either way, however, it would seem that you can keep custody unless & until your sister contacts you wanting to take back custody, & if that happens, you should schedule a consultation with an experienced custody attorney.
