What would be the most important steps to gain custody of my biological daughter?

My daughter currently lives in another state but has been with me since May 26th, She wants to stay with me and her legal guardian is unfit to care for her now. I cannot afford to hire an attourney so is there anything I can do on my own?

If the legal guardian agrees that your child can continue to stay with you, a legal stipulation and order could be drafted and submitted to the court; if they do not agree on letting her stay with you, you will need to file a formal motion in the state that issued the order to request that the guardianship be terminated or otherwise modified to allow you legal placement of your child.
