QUESTION

When can I remarry

Asked on Apr 30th, 2017 on Divorce - Wisconsin
More details to this question:
My divorce was filed and done on 23 December 2016. I am aware the statute states 6 months (so I am assuming that means 180 days) from the file date to remarry. If that is correct, I assume I should be able to remarry on 22 Jun 2016 (181 days)? Is this correct?

The statute on the prohibition to remarry says "six months." It does not speak to days. 6 months from December 23, 2016 would be after June 23, 2017, not before. I understand your point, but if I am right and you are wrong, your marriage would be null and void under the law; that seems to be a big risk to run, as opposed to waiting for a few extra days to make sure 6 months have truly gone by.
